Sidhbali Temple, also known as Shri Sidhbali Dham, is a revered Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Hanuman, situated in Kotdwar, Pauri Garhwal district, Uttarakhand. Perched atop a small hill on the banks of the Khoh River, the temple is enveloped by the scenic beauty of the Shivalik hills, offering a serene and spiritually uplifting environment.
The temple is named after a great saint, Baba Sidhbali, believed to be a devoted ascetic who meditated at this site and was blessed by Lord Hanuman. The idol of Hanuman here is said to be self-manifested, making it a highly sacred pilgrimage for devotees across North India.
The temple is beautifully constructed with traditional Hindu architecture, and the main sanctum houses a powerful black stone idol of Lord Hanuman. Devotees visit the temple year-round, but it sees large gatherings during Hanuman Jayanti and Tuesdays/Saturdays, which are considered auspicious.
Sidhbali Temple is steeped in ancient legends and spiritual reverence. It is believed to be dedicated to Lord Hanuman, but its name comes from Baba Sidhbali, a great saint and devotee who meditated at this sacred site. As per local lore, Baba Sidhbali attained siddhi (spiritual powers) through his intense penance and was blessed by Hanuman himself. Over time, this hillock became a powerful center of worship and the temple was built to honor both Baba Sidhbali and Lord Hanuman.
