Trek Itinerary
Day 1: Rishikesh to Dhaula – Gateway to the Rupin Valley
We meet early morning at Natraj Chowk, Rishikesh and drive through Mussoorie, Purola, Mori, and Netwar. The road is lined with pine forests, apple orchards, and the shimmering waters of the Tons River. By evening, we reach Dhaula, our riverside campsite, where tea, snacks, and a warm dinner welcome us to the mountains.
Day 2: Dhaula to Sewa – Walking into Himalayan Life
After breakfast, we start our first trek along the Rupin River, passing pine forests, wooden bridges, and small farmlands. The trail is mostly gentle, with gradual ascents leading to Sewa, a quaint Himalayan village known for its ancient wooden temple. Evening tea, a warm dinner, and a peaceful night in a village homestay/tent await us.
Day 3: Sewa to Jiskun
We leave Sewa after breakfast, crossing a suspension bridge and following a scenic trail through forests, ridges, and small streams. The climb is steady, with rewarding valley views along the way. By evening, we reach Jiskun, a charming mountain village with traditional wooden houses and sweeping vistas.
Day 4: Jiskun to Udaknal – The Meadows Await
After breakfast, we begin a steady climb through oak and rhododendron forests, opening up to vast alpine meadows. In spring, the trail is dotted with blooming flowers; in early summer, patches of snow still linger. We set up camp at Udaknal, surrounded by majestic Himalayan peaks.
Day 5: Udaknal to Rupin Pass Base Camp – Closer to the Sky
We begin the day with a gradual yet steady ascent through high-altitude meadows and rocky stretches. As we gain elevation, snow patches become more frequent, and the surrounding peaks come into clearer view. By early afternoon, we arrive at the Rupin Pass Base Camp, a strategically located campsite offering panoramic mountain vistas. The remainder of the day is dedicated to rest, acclimatization, and preparations for the upcoming summit day.
Day 6: Rupin Pass Base Camp to Rupin Pass & Descend to Ronti Gad
Summit day begins before dawn, as we ascend through steep snow gullies and narrow ridgelines under the glow of headlamps. The climb is challenging yet rewarding, culminating at the Rupin Pass — a dramatic high-altitude saddle offering breathtaking 360° views of the Kinner Kailash range and surrounding valleys. After celebrating this achievement, we begin a long descent into Himachal Pradesh, traversing snowfields and alpine meadows before reaching Ronti Gad, a serene high-altitude campsite. The day ends with a well-deserved hot meal and rest under a starlit sky.
Day 7: Ronti Gad to Sangla
Today’s descent takes us from the high alpine environment into the lush valleys of Himachal Pradesh. The trail winds through expansive meadows, dense pine forests, and gushing mountain streams, offering a refreshing change in scenery after the rugged high-altitude terrain. By afternoon, we arrive in Sangla, a picturesque village in the Baspa Valley, known for its apple orchards and traditional Himachali architecture. After checking into our guesthouse, you can explore the village or simply relax and enjoy the crisp mountain air.
Day 8: Sangla to Rishikesh
After an early breakfast, we begin our long return journey to Rishikesh, retracing winding mountain roads and river valleys. The drive offers one last chance to admire the dramatic landscapes of Himachal and Uttarakhand before we descend into the plains. We arrive in Rishikesh by late evening, marking the conclusion of our Rupin Pass adventure.
