Madmaheshwar, also known as Madhyamaheshwar, stands as a sacred Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is nestled near the village of Ranshi, situated in the Garhwal Himalayas within the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, India. Perched at an impressive altitude of 3,497 meters (11,473.1 feet), this temple holds a significant place within the Panch Kedar pilgrimage circuit, which comprises a set of five prominent Shiva temples scattered across the Garhwal region. Among these temples, Kedarnath, Tungnath, Rudranath, Madhyamaheshwar, and Kalpeshwar. The sanctum of Madhyamaheshwar is dedicated to worshipping the middle (madhya) or belly part (Nabhi) of Lord Shiva. According to legend, this sacred temple is believed to have been constructed by the Pandavas, the central characters of the revered Hindu epic, Mahabharata.

The sanctuary is famous for the Himalayan Musk Deer and is protecting this endangered species. It is also the largest biodiversity in India with the most varieties of flora and fauna found here. The Temple is constructed in unique North Indian architecture "Pandit Saili". The older, so-called ‘Vriddh-Madhyamaheshwar’, the temple is a tiny blackened shrine on the ridge, which looks straight up at the commanding Chaukhamba peaks. In the current temple, a navel-shaped Shiva lingam, made of black stone, is enshrined in the sanctum.
