Ranikhet is a beautiful hill station located in the Almora district of Uttarakhand. The town is situated at an altitude of 1,869 meters above sea level and is surrounded by the majestic Himalayan ranges. The town has been named after Rani Padmini, the queen of Raja Sudhardev, who is believed to have visited the place.

History:

Later, British officials also started visiting Ranikhet and built various colonial-style buildings, which still stand today.

Climate

Summers (April to June) are mild, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 25°C, while winters (November to February) are cold, with temperatures ranging from -3°C to 15°C. The monsoon season (July to September) brings heavy rainfall, which can make traveling difficult.

Chaubatia Gardens:
This beautiful garden is located 10 km from Ranikhet and is famous for its apple orchards, apricots, and peaches. The garden offers stunning views of the Himalayan ranges and is an ideal place for picnics and nature walks.

Jhula Devi Temple:
The temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga and is believed to fulfill the wishes of its devotees. The temple is known for its bells, which are believed to be the largest in the country.

Mankameshwar Temple:
The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is located in the heart of the town. The temple is known for its intricate carvings and is believed to be one of the oldest temples in the region.

Kumaon Regimental Centre Museum:
The museum is dedicated to the Kumaon regiment of the Indian Army and showcases the history of the regiment. The museum has a collection of war memorabilia, uniforms, and photographs.

Bhalu Dam:
Bhalu Dam is a beautiful lake located in Ranikhet. The lake is surrounded by lush green forests and offers a peaceful and serene environment.

Golf Course:
Ranikhet Golf Course is one of the highest golf courses in Asia, located at an altitude of 6,000 feet above sea level. The golf course offers stunning views of the Himalayan peaks and is a must-visit for golf enthusiasts.

Ranikhet is well-connected by road, rail, and air. The nearest airport is the Pantnagar Airport, located 119 kilometers from Ranikhet. The nearest railway station is Kathgodam, located 80 kilometers from Ranikhet. There are regular buses and taxis available from Kathgodam to Ranikhet.
