Brahmatal Trek is a popular winter trekking destination located in Lohajung, Uttarakhand, India. This trek takes you through snow-covered forests, frozen lakes, and picturesque meadows with stunning views of snow-capped peaks such as Nanda Ghunti and Trishul. Brahmatal Winter Trek: A Himalayan Paradise

Brahma Tal is a picturesque high-altitude lake located in Uttarakhand a state of India. It is situated at an altitude of around 3,734 meters above sea level and is surrounded by the snow-clad peaks of the Garhwal Himalayas. The lake is considered to be one of the most beautiful high-altitude lakes in India and is a popular destination for trekkers and adventure enthusiasts.

The lake is located at an elevation of 12,250 feet above sea level and offers stunning views of snow-capped peaks like Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, and Chaukhamba. The trek starts from the small village of Lohajung, located at an altitude of 2,300 meters.

The base camp for the Brahmatal trekking is Brahmatal itself, which is around 28 kilometres from Lohajang. The trek from Lohajang to Brahmatal is relatively easy and takes around 5–6 days. The trail passes through dense forests, lush meadows, and beautiful streams, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

Usually, we take a maximum of 12 - 15 people in one group. We believe bigger groups have less fun and less coordination so that’s why we prefer smaller groups. We need at least 8-10 people to operate our fixed departure tours/treks.

Q.2 What is the best time to go for Brahmatal Trek?

As the Brahmatal trek is known as a winter trek, it is best done in the months of December, January and February. However, during late March and April, the rhododendrons run a riot on this trail. Catch the sight of a variety of red, pink, and white rhododendrons during these seasons.

All our treks are led by professional trek leaders who are certified, mountaineers. Apart from them, there will be one local guide, cook, helper, porters, and other staff. All our trips are led by professional trip coordinators who have good experience in leading groups.

During the treks, separate toilet tents will be set up on each campsite.

Q.8 How to get safe drinking water on the trek?

Himalayan water is considered the purest water and safe to drink. But for safety purposes, we sometimes boil the water and then use it for drinking and cooking. In case you find any clean water on the trek, always fill your water where the water is running not where the water is stable or is in rest

Q.9 How difficult is Brahmatal Trek? What kind of physical fitness will be required to do Brahmatal Trek?

The difficulty level is moderate for the Brahmatal trek and you will be covering a total distance of 22km. The Brahmatal trek difficulty level is considered as an easy to moderate trek with a mix of steep and gradual ascents. But for that, you need to prepare yourself. For this, you can start jogging every day and then cycling for some time. Always take the stairs without any breaks which will help you to keep fit. Also, start with brisk 10 minutes walk every day and then some physical exercise like stretching. You can also do some yoga every day to regulate your breathing properly.

Q.10 I cannot carry my rucksack/bag on the trek, can I offload it?

We always recommend that you carry your rucksack during the trek because it helps in maintaining your body posture. In case you cannot, then we can provide you with a mule/porter to carry your rucksack. You will have to tell us at least 1 week before the trek. The charges for offloading would be INR 300 per person per day.

Brahmatal Trek (6-11 Dec 2021) made all the important things easy for us so that we can enjoy nature with our friends and they do everything they can to make the experience memorable for us. our trek leader and took great care of us along with sharing some interesting stories. Their local contacts are also very supportive and friendly. Would definitely recommend Firstrek to those who want to have an amazing trekking experience.
