Day 1- Dehradun → Barsu village
Drive from Dehradun to Barsu village, Uttarkashi which is about 180 km and will take 4 hours as the roads are smooth and motorable. You will pass through Mussoorie and beautiful landscapes. Barsu is about half an hour away from Uttarkashi. But your last-minute purchases at the market of Uttarkashi and head towards Barsu. Barsu is a small hamlet offering scenic views.
Stay at Barsu today and try to sink into the culture of the place. These areas are the inner Himalayan regions of the state where people are still intact to their ancient lifestyles and routines.Day 2- Barsu village → Dayara Bugyal
Today is going to be a tough day as we will walk about 8 km uphill toward Dayara Bugyal which might take us 6-7 hours. So, leave early and grab a heavy breakfast.
The first half of the trek will be an easy one up till Barnala Taal, you will find meadows right after this spot. The trail is rich in flora and fauna and covered with rhododendrons all over. After Barnala Taal, we will have 5kms to cover till Dayara Bugyal which will be a steep ascent. we will camp here tonight and star gaze, cook and click. It is advised to stay in the shepherd's huts during strong winters as the climate may get harsh at night.Day 3- Dayara Bugyal → Dayara Top → Dayara Bugyal
Dayara Bugyal is a vast land with lush green vegetation spread at a very long distance. We can climb up to Bakaria top which is the highest point of this bugyal. Take snacks along with you and return after sunset. The setting rays of the sun and the colors of the sky reflect beautifully on the snow-capped mountains in front of us. This is not more than a lifetime experience where nature and humankind meet to witness the surreal blend of both.
Head back to Dayara Bugyal and start preparing for the last meal on the trail.Day 4- Dayara Bugyal → Raithal→ Dehradun
Trekkers usually chose to climb down from the other side of the meadow and reach Raithal village, another base camp for the Dayara Bugyal trek. Raithal is a peaceful small village amidst the pine forest on the other side of Barsu where people come to relax and breathe leaving their city lives behind for a while.
Descending will take us about 3-4 hours if we keep our speeds steady. We can also stay at the local guesthouses to experience the local culture of the place and talk to people or else leave today itself for Dehradun.
