Day 1 is usually more tiring as the body takes time to adjust with the environment and sudden changes. So, we will leave early after a heavy breakfast and head towards Juda ka Taal, our first base camp. Today the hike is about 5kms through Saur village, lush green forests and pine trees which will take us approx. 4-5 hours. Juda Ka Taal is a small lake dedicated to Lord Shiva and has beautiful meadows around it. We will camp here tonight in middle of the pine forest. Local people have set up their shops and food stalls where they serve basic food items.
Wrap up your camps and start your hike. Today we will walk for 4kms towards Kedarkantha Base camp. The trail is easy and takes you through cast snow fields and lush green meadows in between. The campsite is a large meadow and well chosen one as we can find abandoned huts to take shelter if the weather gets harsh in the night. It is advised to wear proper warm clothes as the weather may take a turn and become cold.
Leave your camps and take along only the essentials with you today as we will be heading back to the base camp in the evening. Leave early after your breakfast as today the trail would be mostly covered with snow which makes it tiring and time consuming both. Today’s hike is about 6kms which will take us 7-8 hours in total. As we move with the rising sun, we can witness the sunrays through the tress falling directly on us the sparkling snow. making it more beautiful and majestic. As we reach the top, ranges from Himachal like Chanshal Pass, Rupin Pass will also be visible from here. Pay gratitude at a small temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Parvati along with Lord Ganesha. Sit here for a while, get into the trance of the nature, listen to the only sound of wind and feel the cold breeze. The sight will fill of you with energy and a passion towards life. bring along snacks with you, munch at an elevation of 3800m and start heading towards the base camp.
Today is the day of extreme descent, so start early and take along your trash with you. Make sure that you leave nothing behind except memories and stories to share. As we walk down through the pine and oak forests, stop at crystal clear water streams to freshen up and reach Sankri before sunset. It will take us approx. 5-6 hours to reach our campsite. We believe that this evening is the best time to share, collect and make memories with your team members and make bonds for a lifetime.
