  • Day 1- Manali – Jobra (Drive) Trek from Jobra to Chika (10,100ft)

    After a wholesome breakfast at Manali, you will drive to Jobra from where the trek originates. At this transfer point, receive briefing from your trip leader and gear for an easy ascent of 10,400ft to Chika It's an easy trek to the Chika campsite on the banks of Rani Nallah, a 2 km trek that walks you into a mixed forest of pine, green maple and birch trees With the mesmerizing topography of the Himachal coming into play, you barely realize the climb. While trekking, walk along River Rani who introduces the surroundings of big rocky hills in absolute splendor Stay in dome tents.

  • Day 2- Chika (10,100ft) – Balu ka Ghera (11,900ft) (Trek/Moderate/ 5hrs).

    Leave from Chika campsite on yet another easy day. Though you would trek for barely 5hrs, the journey is beyond impressive. Feel the reality of being in the Himalayan region as you catch the first glimpse of the outer Himalayan chain of mountains as the Dhauladhar ranges begin to appear. Hampta Pass trek is one that can be done any time regardless of the season. Still the most suitable to enjoy each moment of the trek are the months from June to September. During this time, the temperature level will be in an average of 13 to 18 degree Celsius during day time and it drops to a low of 0 degree Celsius at night. In September, the temperature drops down ever more. June has a special place in Hampta Pass trekkers' mind and the reason behind it is the snow. So, a lot of adventure lovers have pointed out that mid June can be considered as the best time to do a thrilling trek to Hampta Pass.

Q.2 What is the level of fitness expected from the participants?

The difficulty level of Hampta Pass trek is MODERATE. Hence, it is recommended that you have a little prior experience of trekking and have the optimum level of fitness. It is advisable that you go through a thorough medical check-up before booking the trek.

Please do not carry the normal sports shoes. As you need the good traction during the trek, shoes from Woodland or Forclaz 500 is a recommended choice.

Q.5 What kind of food will be provided during this trek? What about safe drinking water?

During this trek, you will be provided with vegetarian food which are cooked according to the well planned menu suitable for trekking up the high altitudes. The menu varies from bread and butter to poha to sandwiches for breakfast and roti or puri with vegetable curry for lunch and dinner will include rice, roti, dal or some dessert every day. You will also get biscuits and snacks as well. It is advised to carry energy bars, nuts and dry fruits if you like. Since the campsites are located near water sources, you will not find any difficulty in getting fresh water to drink and it is always better to carry two litres of water every day.

Q.6 Will there be mobile connectivity?

During your trek, you may find mobile connectivity in some places. But for the majority of times, there will no mobile connectivity during the Hampta Pass trek.

Q.7 Is Diamox is advisable?

Yes, to prevent Acute Mountain Sickness or simply altitude sickness, Diamox is a must medicine you should have handy. You will be reaching a height of more than 14000 feet and it will be great if you have 10-12 diamox tablets with you to avoid the uneasiness happens due to acute mountain sickness.

Yes, the Hampta pass trek is a safe trek as no accidents are reported till now. Apart from this, there are slight rains that make trekking a little difficult but is doable. In the winter months, the trek is not safe as it is covered with deep snow and the routes are all blocked. Also, this is a safe trek for solo travelers as the routes are well-defined and you need not worry about avalanches or any other harm from the wildlife.

No, the Hampta pass trek is not doable in the winter months as the entire valley is snow-covered and the roads are all blocked. Whether it is the road connectivity or the route to the peak, both are inaccessible. In these months, you can head to the Kedarkantha trek which is a famous winter trek.

Yes, you can find a lot of snow in Hampta Pass from mid-June to July. After that, the snow completely melts in the month of August till November. Other than that, the winter months of December and January also encounter a lot of snowfall and below-freezing temperatures. Although, it is very difficult to walk in such harsh weather conditions so it is not advisable to trek to Hampta pass during the winter season.
